well.....2days start is nt early, as last night slept very late becz had to finish the biochem qs from q book......
75-82% ws my score......and i ws soo happy abt it....did finish reading the ans also to all the question....now i thnk i cn move on happily to my new subject which is micro....
after a long time me satisfied wth my way of studying.......
during my medical school days we never had mcqs on our exam .....and now the concept here is very different ..........its all new fr me so trying to get a hang fr it..........
so 2days goal is start wth micro and try to finish bacterio if possible.......and nt to forgt the fa

A 75-85%...now how cool is that!!!that was brilliant...i am so glad your plan is working out so well...i hope and pray that this continues without any glitches!

Kaira...check this website out...www.stepprep.com...register there...and they have quizzez which actually test how well u know ur FA...since you are going through FA...this might help!...the questions are not MCQs...but are one liners which test how well u know the most basic things...one does tend to overlook things like that...do have a look and let me know if u think they are any good...

Kaira, Thank you for posting in my journal. I am happy for your score in Biochem. True enough, in Med School, we simply did not have to do go over biochem in this detail! All the best with completing Bacteriology!

thnx cyra for the amazing site......the questions r like......... ..the way my mom (used to help me wth my home work in school) used to ask me one liners whn i ws a kid just to see if im prepared properly or not.......... i liked the question..........ohh those were the best days...little studying and more playing..........
well thn cming to the present ........didnt manage to finish bacterio....never realized tht it is really vast........hoping to get it dne by 2day afternoon and starting wth viruses along wth fa....

...at times i want to be a 7 year old again too...with not a care in the world!
i am glad you liked the website...i havent really used it...cos am still on my first readign and have not been going through FA as diligently as i should have with each subject...have just browsed through it...a quick glance at the end of the day here and there...there is one more website that i came across yest...it is www.boardsandwards.com....
the questions have a factual testing approach...bu that would def prove helpful too..cos a lot of the exam experiences i read state that at times they were at loss because they just could not remember simple facts....dont worry about micro though kaira...we are really going to have to grill ourselves on that...kinda memorize it cold....the FA bit esp...take care...and keep posting...

Hi Kaira, What book are you using for micro? I started out with Made Ridiculously simple, but then found it was too superficial and distracting. So now I only look at it if I am looking for memory aids to help me remember stuff. But I did study their Parasitology section and HIV. I have divided the Bacteria into 4 groups I think. I wrote out all their names in one page and I try to take 10 or so at a time and master them. Then I just look at their names and see how much I can recollect about each one. I love the comparitive microbilogy section for this too, and there is one page with the effects of toxins that is so high yield. All the best with Micro today.

since last night.........parties,movies,shopping.....i thnk i did it all in the last 24hrs....soo exhausted frm all ths and hence no time fr studying
still managed to do a little 2day morning, finished the buggs which ws remaning.....and nw will start studying 2mrw morning, nt in a mood to start right now........

lisa im using mmrs...........i knw its lenghty ....whn i read micro fr th 1st time i tried to stick to kaplan and take only the memonics frm mmrs.....bt somehow it becomes a hassel to use two books so i thought i better switch to one.......so ths time i read only mmrs, the underlined or marked lines in it which i did whn i read it fr the 1st time...soo now my life is a bit simple
i hav also made stick up post on my walls wth all the buggs name and its main characteristics....it sounds funny bt seeing it all the time it somehow sticks in my grey..........
on a very big paper i managed to fit the whole of bact and sticked it to my wall...i did the same wth biochem metab...all the pathways u will find it on my bedroom walls....
some crazy thngs we doo while studying isnt it.....i like ur way of studying micro tooo....u right it on a page and try to recollect and i stick the page to my wall and recollect it anytime i see it...soo u see the concept is the same....
i thnk i wrote a bit too much..........now i will goo and sleep and get up early in the morning and start studying ......
wishing a gr8 start 2mrw to me and all of u

finally i dared it!!!
i hav filled my form atlast...........yest whole afternoon i ws filling the form ..typing the clinical clerkship along wth college name and adress all the time is such a pain........bt thts over and now a fear starts..........exam fear!!! took the oct-dec slot...
just cudnt sleep last night and gt up early in the morning!!
soo last nigt worked up a plan....again!!hoping to stick to it till the end.......
reading all the subjects again just to solve qbook ws nt a time well spent soo thought of including ucv and bss.....actually had kept bss fr next month bt now i feel i shuld finish it now soo tht i wnt hav a tension hanging on me .....
solving bss right now might make my basic strong i feel......wht do u feel guys??? any suggestions???
finished micro q book 75-80%....now will doo further again wth micro itself by dng ucv and bss.....
2days goal will be goo thro fa........thn will do ucv...2 books of ucv fr micro hoping to finish atleast one book 2day
now im only thinking is the exam ......god help me out.......hope im dng the right thng.....
soo 2 days wth an early start...here i goo

Hey kaira...so today was the big day!...i actually get a bit nervous when i think of filling mine out...which i should be doing in the near future...intend on applying for the dec-jan-feb slot...but...from what i have heard once u have filled out the form and stuff...you get more focussed...which is good...and it is great that you have chalked out a plan for the upcoming months...cos without a solid plan one just ends up wasting time...hey...u really think reading through the subjects once again wasn't worth it?..do elaborate on that a bit...cos ppl do say that they read up on material like three or even more times...this friend of mine keeps telling me to start with question solving early in the course of preparation...i think if you do questions and then read up on topics you aren't confident about should be a good strategy too...what do you think?am at a loss regarding bss though kaira...try posting about it in the support forum...you'd probabaly be able to form an opinion with responses you get there...ucv is good...some one recommended tem to me too...and i bought a set...haven't really gone through them as yet...although i had thought i would go through them with each subject that i read...but that never worked out...would appreciate some feedback on that too......have rambled on forever now...better be off...and btw...awesome score on the micro!!!...good stuff kaira...keep it up...and study hard!

each read will definately make ur score more higher........bt u knw wht i had already dne 1st read and wth ths 2nd read i ws realising i havnet solved much .....and thts why i wanted to start wth some more question apart frm q book...........i hav q bank given to me by my friend...bt in a cd format in which i cnt solve subject wise soo i hav kept it fr last.....
my plans r to read atleast 3-4times before the big day........
ucvs r gr8......they help u to rembember the key words u shuld look fr in ur question to cm to a proper conclusion.....im very comfortable dng it subject wise....yeah its a bit time consuming bt definately time well spent
yest i did finish wth one book on ucv fr micro....2day the second one and finished the fa soo might solve some questions frm pretest...or the site which had qs fr FA
now tht i hav filled in my form,my study hrs hav improved and im happy

Hey Kaira...glad everything is going as planned...shall go through the ucvs with my second read as well...i just want to finish off my first read....but the closer to it i think i am the more difficult it gets...and it gets difficult to meet deadlines...but...you know you were right...i think its anatomy...it gets to me...but got to deal with it...anyways...check with you again tom...take care and study hard!!

no worries cyra.........1st read does appear to be a never ending road where we get lost often.....bt trust me ur dng much much better.....u hav a gr8 speed.......
i did compelete my ucvs,fa and mmrs and quite a bit of pretest.........feeling good abt micro now......soo 2day i will only revise everythng and ths weekend will solve brs micro .........
2day wnt be able to put in too much as gt to go out wth my hubby ...soo fr 2day studies take a back seat.......
hoping ths weekend will be the end of micro

Hey Kaira....its great that you are done with micro...AND you feel good about it too...(its a bit of a lost cause for me though...will really have to figure it out with my second read!)....you must have had fun over the weekend...u deserve every bit of it......u need to keep posting though...i get quite a few pointers on how to go about stuff reading through your journal....till later...take care..

hi cyra.......
its been a long time .........ws out of town ........it ws a suprise gateway frm my hubby for 4 days......enjoyed it a lot and now back to books.........missed my diary and u my friend, cyra .....its become an habit to post in almost everyday...
still stuck on micro .......as my bss is nt yet completed.......dne wth pretest bt thn its taking ages fr bss......no wonder people say bss is like another reading on its own.....
5 booksof bss...and im dne wth major 2 books...2day will tackle wth the three books which dnt hav much questions like the others....and thn will nt seen micro fr a long time......

overall score fr bss ws 65-72%........still more 20 qs to goo...just cudnt finish it yest....ws too tired....will finish tht by 2day morning .......and thn will start wth genetics.....here it cmes again the worst of all...now dnt knw hw many days i will be hankering wth ths subject??

i had the same opinion abt micro a few months ago kerochi....bt mmrs changed my whole outlook....its gr8 memonics really makes u rembember the dam buggs.......maybe u cn just use the book fr its memonics along wth ur current book....
weekend ws very slow and frustating.....genetics ws wht i ws dng....and im happy im dne wth it at last.......will doo it again whn im dng biochem
1st aug-- another 3 months to go.....i shuld increase my speed now...by increasing my hrs of studying as i feel im gng tooo slow...........
so i hav decided to go to the library frm 2day......
2day i will start wth neuro ......
