From what residents have told me, you might have to show financial ties to your home country - like real estate, bank accounts, active medical practice, hospital or university status, etc. It's the belief that if you show that you have reason that you must return home, it makes getting visas a little easier. Good luck

Pls, Where can I find hospitals that sponsor the J-I visa. Secondly is it possible to change your status later based on a relation filing for you. Thanks, JN.

Once you receive a J-1 visa, you cannot change the status until after residency and when you find an employer who will sponsor you for a waiver position. A family member cannot change your status.
