Experimental drug was given to someone with severe congestive heart failure. Within minutes of IV administration there is a decrease in cardiac afterload and preload. Also an increase in GFR. The effects of the drug are most similar to those produced by which of the following?

1- aldosterone
2- insulin
3- Angiotensin 2
4- norepinephrine
5- ADH
6- ANP

6- ANP

thanks for the response ssrpk...but why did you pick anp I thought it was angiotensin 2.....I dont have an ans for this question.

  #4

insulin has no significant activity on vessel contractility

others listed increase either preoload or afterload execpt ANF!

angiotensin 2 constricts peripheral bld vessels, increasing TPR afterload and it causes aldosterone synthesis increasing preload.

How ANP inc: GFR???

ANP causes vasodilatation of peripheral resistance vessels

  #8

ANP antagonize the effcts of ADH and angiotrensinII

well i think ANP incr GFR b/c it decr BP and that slows down blood allowing more to filter.

u are rite gooshipoh!

ANP does inc. GFR by constricting efferent and dilating afferent; also reduces Na+ and H2O reabsorption in the CD
