hi everyone!!!
i finally come up with the idea that i should also write my daily diary to keep on track and most of all, i need a little more energy to fight with this exam in this month!! u know what i mean.....i'm inspired by the people on this forum, and u guys give me more energy than anything else next to God in preparing the exam...whenever i feel left behind by my study schedule, i just peek in this forum and i got boozed-up by u guys. i'm always thankful to u and pray for all of us. well...i've been more like a silent observer except for a couple of mails here and there. i found this forum in last november.
i'm an IMG, graduated from russia 2004 august. its always been an idea to sit for usmle in my whole final year, but never made it. i did some questions here and there usually in pathology in my final year. but i could make though during my final year, 2 books appleton and lange and FA int'l questions (this one sold by one or our teachers meant for board exams) and princeton review q on cd (which has 400 q).
i started preparing in NOV, but this whole month and DEC, didn't study much, got really depressed by my rejected application over and over again due to some dates or signatures prob with my dean, ended up collecting books and going in and out of usmle related websits looking for the clues as to which books to choose....its been very useful, could downloaded Dr.goljan audio and i got his 36 and 100 pages too. www. brain101.info has been v. useful too. i'm forever thankful to the souls who uploaded with the goodwill.
anyway, here r my stuffs....
1) FA 2004 x 2
2)NMS series (i used to study with all NMS series in my uni, so now i'm only doing q following each chapter in these)
* here i only finished some of NMS patho q, didn't finish whole q.
3)i watched kaplan video once. (no idea to study with its notes, feeling NMS series along with FA and high yeilds i downloaded from www.brain101.info r good enough for me, plus lots of q ......let u know if they r really enogh after my exam result)
4)lots of q, kaplan qbank didn't finish everything, started with 42-47% in NOV-DEC, now MAR-APRIL getting 70% (this % applied to every q i did in following)
5)NMS lazo didn't finish whole CD, its 1000q in the book, and 800q in CD
6)blackwell i did free online (the same %)
7) appleton and lange (finished one time in uni got 42-47% back then, now gonna repeat it)
8)princeton cd finished 2 x
9)5000 board q i downloaded from wwwbrain101.com i think i finished all, cann't keep track, coz the same q appear repeatedly and cann't count, i feel every q familiar to me. (the same %)
10) usmle cd x 3
i have many others which i haven't touched, like exam-master q, NBME q - i'll let u know, when i actully do them about my %.
ok, today 3.05.05's special
1) gonna continue my note book high yeild in patho, physio, if possible pharma too.
2) thinking of doing NBME also, but its already 12 pm. i'll see....
ok guys, thank u for letting me in this diary world. i'm gonna do exam whenever i think i'm confident to do but anytime in this MAY, got my orange permit and didn't book the date from prometric.
i'll see u guys 2morow. till then....productive studying.....

and welcome to diary land! I'm sure that one can ace this test deviating from using the kaplan lecture notes. make sure you have a solid source for path like goljan rapid review or his notes plus audio.

hey berkeleyboy, thank u for yr wish!!! yup i'm putting priority for patho. i will digest all dr.goljan materials, along with brs patho, FA, HY.
hi ssrpk, thanks for yr wish too. i did that 5000 q in last JAN and liked them. the q stems don't reflect qbank nor nms for q stems r v.shot, but the concepts do!!! u can do them if u have time, but not one-month away from yr exam...coz we should get used to doing long and hard q stem....(i personally found reading q stem of nms lazo irritating after doing that 5000q :lol: )
hey tanisha, i like yr 3 p.....i'm making sure i got 3 p cool.
well, come back to my today's dairy, i finished only anatomy FA, HY x 3. its really testing my patience reading ana, my weekest subject next to mole bio. i will only look into CT, some slides b4 exam for ana.
listened to dr.goljan respiratory.
didn't to NBME, thinking to do after this revision.
2morrow, will do patho and physio from FA, HY, rapid review.
continue audio.

hi tanisha, yup i'm feeling we can ace this test. lets try together!!!
today, i booked that date with prometric, its 19/05!!! so i have exactly 2 weeks left. now i'm on my second round of my stuffs....patho, ofcourse on 3 round. my plan is will finish this revision in this week and early next week. than, contine do q.
as for today,
-finished 1/2 of brs patho only. finished patho from FA (been so slow today :oops: )
-listen to audio haemato
as for 2morrow,
-will try to finish all patho, should move into pharma, if time allows, physio too.
i think i will stick to this revision without doing q this week and earler next week. and i'm making sure everything goes inside my head. coz i know i will not have to time to come back agin to revise b4 exam. as for q, i will do after i'm doing with this revision.
i really like to get over with this...its been so painful studying from sunrise to sunset than to sunrise in my room. my cicadian rythm has has changed ever since i prepare for the exam. even ativan cann't help me, took ativan at 9pm wishing to get up 4 am, but here i'm up at 1.30am. if i'm not sleeping, i'll be studying only. the only entertainment is music for 1/2 hr or one hr a day if i listen. never studied this hard in my entire life. even at times there is little progress, i can hardly leave my room more than 2 hrs. nop....not really, its not self-pittiness, i sicerely wish i want to get over with this. and i know all of us r putting up with it....well, some worse than mine, some better and luckier than mine.... after all, success come from hard work. i'm just holding on.....

good morning everybody!!!
spent 5 hrs this morning reading up biochem. hi usmlerock, thanks for yr welcome n wishes. hi tanisha, how r u? hope u r renewed over the weekend....
well....today, i'll be reading micro charts, and all other important charts like genetics, antibodies, environmental, metabolic disease charts, hallmark findings etc etc...which need repetition. my study now has become a mixture of everything, trying making sure to cover my weak subjects like ana, biochem while revising all other areas.
didn't do any q. i will most probably do nbme on 12th. so gotta finish my revision on 12th. ok guys, i'm off to study.

Ya..my studies are also mix of everything.I think thats important for now,to integrate everything,the way they are gonna ask us questions.Today is 8th and i have very few days.So i need to be fast.I will give my NBME on 16th/17th.Lets see.I haven't done lot of questions,so i have those worries.
I am only done with kapaln qbank.So NBME will be useful for me to assess myself.

this is an excellent idea,to revise things most likely to forget near the exam&charts are a good way of doing it.
may u finish ur revision by 12th.

P.S Marverick posted that we can skip the tutorial by pressing the end button, it really is a plus to be able to skip tutorial on the exam. well....just in case if u guys don't have any idea as to how to skip it...

nope it's still there....i just checked. try http://www.med.usf.edu/2003/usmlesmack.html i strongly advice to study medical mnemonics and usmle table part. they r really pearl.
today, i'll be studying dr.goljan 100 pages.
