Hi friends,
I got my score today,and I'm realy happy.Thanks to one and all in this forum.I have solely relied on this forum(I was more of a silent observer in the forum except for one or two posts)A special thanks to Dane and Berkley boy who answered my queries and suggested me to take NBME.It really did help me.
I studied for 7 months,used kaplan notes,firstaid and goljan audio.Did q bank, USMLE CD and NBME 1 &2.Doing Nbme helped me a lot as the questions were very similar
Got 490 in NBME 1.Was discouraged and postponed my exam by 3 weeks.Did NBME 2 , just 3 days before the exam and got 480.So was even more scared.The real exam was much easier than both NBMEs.
First aid is a must especially for Pharmacology.I couldnt digest kaplan pharmac and ultimately relied on first aid pharmac and thats more than enough.

Hi !!
Congrats! Thats a good score.
I have taken my step-1 3 days back.I got 520 in NBME form-1.I ve taken the test 1 week before the final exam.I too felt the same way as u did...the final exam a bit easier than the NBME test.
Does the score in NBME test correlates with the test.?After how many days did u get the test results.?

Thanks berk and congrats to you..Your score is excellent and you deserve it.
To Diba,Usmle Cd is the one that they send when you register for the exam.You can also download it from the Usmle .org website.(practice materials)You can call them up and ask to send it,if you are already registered and havent yet received the Cd.Its free.
To J krish,I think you'll defnitely get above 95.If I can get 94 with NBME 480,you'll do way better.The NBME apparently,correlates with the actual exam,but it didnt in my case.With NBME 480 I was expecting somewhere b/n 85-88.So the score was actually a pleasant surprise for me. Took my exam on 5th April.Did Oasis trick on 28th morning and it worked.Got my scores by post today(30th April)

hi jedi
congratilations for a great score. i need advise for pathology. i'm doing kaplan patho notes, goljan rapid review, FA, kaplan qbank. is it not enough to cover patho? should i add anything else. i donot have goljan 500 page note(whatever that is) nor the audio. help!

Hi Karyosome and Macavilli, Thanks.I was very unsure of pathology myself.But I listened to goljan audio after my first revision of kaplan patho.I did not use goljan 500 pages coz I had already read patho from kaplan and did not want to change the books.However I strongly suggest goljan audio because I could integrate all the subjects after I listened to him.Then I read kaplan notes and evrything was clear.Noted down points as I listened to Goljan audio. I tried reading Goljan 100 pages but didnt like it at all .First aid is more than enough for rapid reviewing in the end and lot of questions came from that.But make sure that you have a good pathology basic knowledge which you will get once you listen to Goljan audio.Go to ebay and you'll get lot of goljan audios for a good price.I believe you can also download it from www.coolgoose.com(not sure if its still available).Good luck .You'll do well -jedi

i'm not getting the goljan audio that u suggested. is goljan rapid review good. its not in great detail but the clinical approach of the book is quite appealing.

Hi karyosome, I do not know what gojan rapd review is.So i cannot comment on that.I liked Goljan audio because when you hear him,you retain a lot of things.I just checked ebay.They have lots of them -jedi.

will doing usmle cd ( the one we get with our orange card) help in getting a feel of & bettering nbme1? r the qs pretty similar to the actual exam, good if the real one is easier.
