Wow..it seems fortunate to me. :-) I have posted this mess for a long time...and I thought there was no Vietnamese here :-). What a fortune to me! Now U will be asked lots lots of questions What r u doing now? What do you intend to do? Have u got ECFMG? I'm in 4th year and I am very interesting in studying as a residency in USA. But I really be confused in how I would go. Thanks for your reply.

Sorry for changing my name, I forgot the old password. I am a Faculty of HMU, finished residency here. I passed step 1-2 with scores of 98-99, got ECFMG certificate 2 months ago. Going for IM residency in US next month becoz do not want to do PhD here. For you, to get residency in US: Good USMLE scores + USCE (final year or after graduation) and LOR from US docs VISA maybe a big headache for you here in VN (for Observationship, CSA and Interview) I did nearly everything from Hanoi but I was in US for 6 months in 2003, good connections. In your case, you need go to US for 3-6 months to do observe + CSA then may return for interview. GL

Hi, may I ask u what your name is? My name is Trung. So now going to study residency? Have u matched? U have finished residency in VietNam? in IM? I intend to go to residency in VietNam and I will get Step 1 and 2 when I study residency. Do u think that is good? What is UCSE? How could I get it? And how could I get LOR? How could I study abservationship? ....and so on...Sorry for a series of questions :-)

I matched this year with an IM program in Michigan, start to work there next month. USCE: US clinical experience, to get it you should have connection with some US docs or maybe you can contact with some hospitals or universities, they can offer or even sponsor you a observationship position. My case: I got a sponsorship from a university there-just a good luck. Your plan seems OK.

-Buy USMLE review books-Kaplan or High Yield series, register on ECFMG.org, pay money, go to bangkoc to take Step 1, Step 2 CK, go to LA for step 2 CS. -It takes you 6 mos-1 year hard studying for step 1, 3-4 mos for step 2 CK, for CS you need some experiences with international clinic in HCMC (SOS or others). You should have a fresh mind and proficient English to go. -There are alot of forum you can get information, eg. www.usmleforum.com -my email: ongvuthehong@hotmail.com, feel free to contact, i am going to leave next month.

I wll graduate April 2008 and maybe take 2 yrs rotation in Japan. I prep for step1 now and registered for the upcoming exam in April 2007. If I can clear all step1 and 2 together with my graduation due to Feb 2008, I hope I can apply for the match and do my rotaion in US. There r so many things I d like to ask ur guys...Please answer me

Hi Smilepandy, I am an IMG and studying for step 1. I will take the test next month. I have a collection of Kaplan Books and Qbanks for all 3 steps on DVDs. If you want to get the residence in USA and save some money. I will send it to you. It helps me a lot. Let me know if you are interested in it. I finished my residency in Vietnam and now I want to get a residency here. Bye
