I need advice on following issues, please help me. 1. Shall I tell the program that my J-1 has been rejected, will they suggest me any immigration lawyer who can fight my case out? do i look for a lawyer in US or in India. Will the program cancel my position and give it to someone else, I am scared like a hell! 2. Does communicationg to ECFMG helps, the officer who signed my DS -2019 shall I speak to her, can she issue me any supporting letter. 3. I have a valid visitor visa till June end, shall i enter US again on visitor visa, will I be stopped at port of entry? Do I have any chance for change of status now in US. Is it the end of road to me, kindly help me...i am feeling lot of pain. 1. Yes, you must tell your program that you have been rejected for a visa - it is the ethical thing to do. See if your program director will write a letter for you stating that the hospital depends on resident physicians to provide quality care for patients, etc. Sometimes that will work. 2. Speaking with ECFMG will rarely work - it's the program that wants you. 3. Change of status happens occasionally in the US. It takes up to 6 months and you would be late to start your residency........ Good luck!

Your program director should know what to write for you. I am certain that you aren't the first resident that this has happened to.
