Hi all...
Well today has to be the day to stimulae to start the venture of writing a DIARY.
First of all i will introduce myself.
I am an Indian IMG ,well now living in USA after marriage.
Decided to do all the steps last year,but got lost in lots of just married fun,new house,parties & mixing with people around.
So i was not very regular in my step one studies.I got all my books in july,but didnt touch them for couple f months. Had decided to give step 1 in december-january.But i was not very used to read the kaplan material till then  .U can call me a lazy dumbo.Well this year i was a little consitent with my studies.And now have done kaplan books.
So why i started my diary now?
Well thats the secret.....well not actually.My hubby forced me to send application last month and so i got my orange permit.He want s me to take exam in one months time.thats it.Accroding to him i will never be serious without some scarry deadline.So it is 27th may.OOpps just one more month.
I need your advice and support in this.
I am reading my kaplan books for 2nd time,will finish 2nd read this week.and simultaneouly doing questions from qbank.wel subjectwise!
I don't dare to do it random till now as my scores are not good.
Now the question is wheather i can do this or not?
Dont know really....
But i know one thing if we keep the date in june ,i am not gonna study hard.Thtas me.I study only when the water goes up.
I am gonna try it........
Atleast the test date made me study hard....
Thats really good for me.
So now for this week i wil finish my revision.And will keep doing the question bank.
Planning to take NBME 3weeks before exam.
So i am on....
Will keep posting.Hopefully this little diary wll keep a track of what i am studying.

welcome to the journal forum....my sincere advice is dont take the nbme test until you feel that you prepared well for THAT EXAM.i mean the nbme.take the nbme test as if that is the real exam.

Kiran ,i will always remember your valuable advice. I know i should take NBME as a serious final exam.
Way to go friends.
I am praying for al of us....
I hope i will finish this thing in a month.
Right back to pharmacology.Will do some questions as always in the evening time.

welcome to the journal forum! GL in nbme and take that exam seriosly. The correlation is legit and more likely than not, your actual score will hover around it!

Good morning all!
Here i am back.
Well i didn't discuss the study material i am using for this exam.
Well i am using
KAPLAN LECTURE NOTES
I SAW KAPLAN VIDEOS ONCE
GOLJAN AUDIO LECTURES
FIRST AID- not really used a lot ,but i am trying to get used to it.
KAPLAN QBANK
RAPID REVIEW
Guys is it enough?
Sometimes i feel ,espcially when i talked personally with 2 of people who did it on phone,i feel i can do it.But sometimes i feel its too hard.Esp after reading the exam experiences.I really don't know ,how it is gonna be?
Y'day talked with one friend.Who has got matched and will join residency this year.I asked him how many days you studied.He said 1 or max 1 & 1/2 moonth.i was amazed.But when i asked him again ,he said when i say 1&1/2 month ,that is 16-18 hrs a day.So now i am feeling a little comfortable.
If i put all my efforts in this test i also can do it.Ya i feel so.
Well lets finish the revision first.
OOOOhh 16-18 hrs a day.
I can't do that tonight or tomorrow.
We are getting shifted to another place.So i need to help hubby a bit in packing and then again oragnising things again in new apartment.Well i can avoid that,but its better to do it.
Now i am listening to Goljan audio.Respiratory system.
So i want to divide my time as
Morning- Goljan audio 2-3 hrs /one lecture.
day - kaplan +FA
Night - Questions
How does it sounds?
Nope...i need to measure in hours now.
I ususally get u late,so i will start at 9.00 am for studies,ok.So From 9.30 am ,i Have got 17 hrs in my hand.Because i sleep around 2 am.
So according to my friend i need to put all of them in studies.Right,i got it.
I need to manage it.Will have to arrange for cooking/gym.Because they take my 3-4 hrs.ok,i will do it.Not a big deal.
Will try it from friday after all shifting.
Now i will run to Liabrary.Bye all!!!

It is really nice to have u here. And u will find a lot of people who will give u good advice regarding ur prep.
So keep studying. Keep ur self motivated. One month will just fly by. In no time u wil lbe done with ur step 1.

Hi all..
Good morning!
Icouldnt write anything here because as told you before ,we got shifted to a new apartment.So we had to fix the internet from techinician... which you guys know they don't schedule appointment on weekends.
So the techinician is just out of my home and i am here...on my diary!
I was at home only in last few days because i needed to take care of lot of things ..change of adress,telephone.....maintainance guy coming around...........
Frankly speaking i couldnt read a single word on thursday,friday.....
Saturday was little better,when i did my pharmac for 3-4 hrs.
Sunday i started back to my goal.And here i am.Right now i am listening Goljan which i will listen for 2-3 hrs everyday.And then i will read respiratory system pathology +physiology + pharmacology from kaplan .I want to do few things systemwise.Yup....so now i will be on these things.In the night i need to do questions as i have promised..atleast 100!

hey....we r in the same boat!!! i'm doing my exam in this MAY too....well got my orange permit, but didn't book the date with prometric. i cann't help but smile while reading yr diary. u can call me lazy dumbo too!!! as for us, one thing good, as our studies get more productive with the set date. keep it up man, u can do it, have faith in yr self and yr God, everything is possible!!!
i'm doing FA and high yeild now. thinking of doing some q tonight too. hey.......just a peice of advice, when u r doing with yr kaplan 2nd round, why don't u look up FA one complet round...hey...i'll pray for u and everyone on this forum. oh...i'm supposed to finish my 2nd round FA in this week, thinking of doing more q next week when i'm done with FA.
now, i'm off to study.....see ya.

Hi everybody..
got up late today.
Y'day i suck in qbank.Did 2 blocks ..1st block 42% 2nd Block 64% :?: :?: :?:
That was bad... slept right away with it.
Anyway now i am just analysing it.
Need to read the explainations again.
Anyways,will return back to goljan ,i need to listen to all the lectures before 15th.
Tody i will do GIT ,from physio/pathology 7 some pharmac also..
Way to go back to books..........
I need to figure out the things...
There are 10 major area to study
Anatomy
Physiology
Biochemistry
Mol Biology
Genetics
Microbilogy
Immunology
Pathology
Pharmacology
Behavioral sciences
The most important to deal with are the three "P".Physiology,Pathology & Pharmacology.
After dealing with them i will shift to Biochemistry,Mol Biology,Genetics.
Then micro,immuno.
Then Anatomy.
Then Behavioral science.
Howz that? So this is the plan of my 3rd reading.Wish me luck!Will keep my diary updated.

Although its standard knowledge about the 3Ps. In my exam path was about 40-45% and the rest was split evenly between the other subjects, with a lot less emphasis in physio and slightly more emphasis on neuro and molecular bio. I guess, I'm saying you should try to do every subject well! Had I studied histo and embryo and not neglected anatomy so much, I think I would have gotten the 99.

Y'day was not at all good for me.Somehow i had concentration problem ,kepty doing 2 question blocks with explainations.Took so much time to finish it. :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil:
Didn't really did any productive things other than that.So i need to do the GIT today.
Hopefully today will be a productive day............time to stick to my books :icon_study: :icon_study: :icon_study: :icon_study: :icon_study:

hey....i know i know, its easier to do q than to read explainations......but its worthless without reading our mistakes, if the q get right, should know why is right. accod to my experince, some q i got right had proved to be another ideology (not the way i thought why ther r right).

I think now i have got terrified wth the thought of exam.The date is 27th ,that is just three weeks away.Exam is around the corner.
:x And now i am going mad.
I have so many things to do.
I am still on Patho-physiology.oops need to hurry.

I haven't gone for NBME ,but i will take it 8-10 days before real exam,to decide wheather to sit or not.As i am person who studies at last moment,can't decide things 1 month before.
Anyways ,still on systemwise patho-physio..today renal!
Lets finish it guys,this exam is getting on my nerves.

You're doing well. How many Q bank questions have you done now? I haven't done the real thing but just some copied ones that a friend gave me, but I agree with ruby - try and read the explanations if you have time. It helped me a lot in making sure I really understood the concepts.

how r u?? how's yr renal thing going on???
hey...by the way, how do u prepare for patho slides, CT and stuff like that?? i found somewhere recently by post exam experience and there are 150 diagrams, slides, photos altogether......its scary. anybody has input as to how to prepare for that???
would appreciate any input.

About your question about pictures,i am really not sure.I don't have any good resources.I will rely on Goljan slides,qbank pictures ,FA pictures and will go for exam.
I am still on same page,got so lost.Y'day i was not feeling well.Some sickness,don't know ,lot of bodyache.Were sleeping for lot of the time.
My anxiety is getting on nerves.Only 19days to go.Ooof!I need to finish this,yes i will finish it.
ok guys,way to study back.
will stick to renal physiology.
