hi guys
what is the first step in management of cystitis
urine culture/direct oral TMP/SMX
explain
some of the UW Questions confuse me :oops: :?

i think it should be culture followed by TMP/SMX. By the time u get the culture report u might have cured the patient. If not, then u'll have the sensitivities and change the antibiotic accordingly. Hope this helps.

Very first step I would imagine would be dipstick for leukocytes, nitrites. Then send off a MSU for culture while you treat with an antibiotic of your choice (TMP, Cephalexin, Cipro, Nitrofurantion)
