Hi,
I'm a IMG, I have enrolled in Kaplan Center prep Combo, which is 9 moths duration for step 1 & 2 CK.
I will start for the step 1 on June 1st.

I'm confused, because most of you have posted that we need more than 6 months for step 1. But I think that 3 months for step 2 is not enough too.
Could someone please help me for scheduling for these two steps...

I'm planning to register for the 2007 Match, so I think I have 1-2 months to freeze my Kaplan Course between two steps. Do you suggest to freeze the kaplan course for 2 months (Dec 05 and Jan 06) to study for step 2 by myself and then use the center for 3 months only for step 2?

Thank you for you help

You can freeze the Kaplan after you are done with the tapes for Step 1, then prepare yourself at home for another 1.5-2 months, and after taking the exam, start with step 2. I think you can manage to finish the tapes in 4.5 months and then take a break of 1.5-2 months to study on your own, and you still have another 4.5 months to see the tapes for step 2.
good luck

Thank you Olivetta,
How many times do you think I should watch the tapes?
Do you think watching the tapes for one time only is enough?

and I have another question, I like to enroll for the Qbank too. When do you think I should start the Qbank, since I have only 3 months permission to use it after I have enrolled?

Thank you so much for your support.

I think in 4.5 months you have time to watch them twice. If you feel really confident after watching them once, that's ok too. It depends on how you feel. I only had the webprep, witch included 80 hours of lectures, and only listen to them once, because when I did it, I used to write down on the blank space of the book the things that were not in the book. So I don't think it is mandatory to watch the tapes twice, because when you do the second reading, you'll see and understand everything under a new light.

You should register for Q-bank in the last 3 months of your study. If you wanna study a total of 6 months for step 1, then the last 3 months are perfect to get the Q-bank.

Good luck with your preparation. smiling face

Hi Olivetta,
I have one more question.
Since I want to study for step 1 about >6 months, and I'm going to start on June 1st, so my plan is to take the step 1 around December 2005.

I like to register for the eligibility period of Nov-Dec-Jan or Dec-Jan-Feb.

But my problem is that I can't register now, because I have to wait until they publish the 2006 Application Material. The 2006 application material will be published around August 2005. Since I'm an IMG, it takes few months (2-3 months) for ECFMG to send my diploma to my country for verification. That’s why I like to register early so I have enough time for that.

What is your suggestion?

1- Register today for Oct-Nov-Dec and then if I couldn't take the exam in Dec I request an extension.

2- Wait until August for the 2006 application materials and then register for the Dec-Jan-Feb.

Thank you so much for all your help and support
