I tried to load the Goljan mp3 files on an iPod so that I could listen to them on the road but really had trouble doing that. These files for some reason just don't show up in iTune. Could anyone recommend an mp3 player that does work with these files? Or does anyone have experience getting them loaded on an iPod?

I was able to get the lectures on my ipod. I had all the files in a folder and then right clicked and went to 'open with itunes'. At this point the files showed up in my library, but I was NOT able to move them onto my ipod. This may (or may not) have been your problem. So, then I right clicked each file and went to 'Convert to ACC'. I dont know what this means or does but from there I was able to move the files to my ipod. Its a bit tedious and time consuming (esp if u have a slower computer), but definately worth it. Hope this works...Good luck.

Thanks for your suggestions, rgr. Interestingly, your method worked with some of the files I have but not all of them (they seem a very mixed bunch). Eventually I figured that the most likely cause of these problem files was that they had been encoded with very low bit rate (something like 24 bps). So I downloaded MediaMonkey (a free program) and used it to convert these files to a higher bit rate (56). This method worked with these more difficult files. As you say, it's a very time consuming process but definitely worth it.
