I'm a first year Med student, and i'm starting to get worried because i'm getting all B's in my first year, although i study/try very hard for all my tests. I learn everything but my application skills arent very good.
Now i will try to do better in my 2nd year to try to raise my GPA ( which will be a challenge) but now im counting on my STEP 1's to redeem myself. I just took the nbme exam ( its a required part of our curriculum) and scored a 580(81 percentile) on biochem and a 68(49 percentile) on physio. I'm getting really discouraged and this summer i want to start preparing for my steps because i'm aiming for a 230 or better. So i was just wondering where i should start? and what books to use.. i know i haven't taken path/pharm/micro etc but i want to have a good start on anatomy, biochem, physio and neuro.
I was thinking to try the First Aids and the Kaplan notes and maybe read both this summer. Any ideas?

start reading from the kaplan books. they are more than enough to score high, but you have to read them at least three times. also do a alot o tests. good luck.

MR 1ST YEAR need to understand things getting a high
gpa is important for getting in to med school okay you are in
right know you should focus on understanding concepts and
material thats more important some med schools even have swithched to a pass or fail system for this reason when you mature a little
you will understand grades dont matter at this level your usmle does and your attitude do okay so stop the crying
