Kaplan Qbank USMLE

Just got word back from my dean that I passed with 213 on STEP 2. Thank God, it came right on time before graduation. I have to say that the best prep for me was the KAPLAN DVD lectures, CRUSH STEP 2, USMLE WORLD Qs. I supplemented the lecture DVDs with the notes which just kinda put a stamp on things for me. The lecture DVDs take a while to watch them all though, so give yourself about 3 months if you go this way to study, but it is all worth it. When I was taking the test, the questions that were familiar to what I had studied, I answered with confidence. This was the second time I took STEP 2 in which the first time I made 175. Terrible feeling afterwards. There was some scattered STEP 1 material on the test mostly about Sickle cell and the effect of Hydroxyurea (Inc Hbf and Hb Gamma), some stuff about which cation is used in activation of some unknown protein (Na+). Pediatrics was stiff on the test but the kaplan lecture DVDs covered everything well and USMLE World Qs are totally the closest thing to the real test. I worked USMLE World Qs roughly twice with my first round scoring 56%. I could remember about 10 Qs that were almost verbadum the same Qs as on the real test. The week before the test I read through Advance Cardiac Life Support which was very high yield for the test. A lot of GYN disease and cancer and some very easy preventive medicine that were gimmes. The STATS part was very easy, just remember the formulas Spec, Sens, PPV, NPV and you will get them easily. Medicine was definitely tested the hardest but PEDs/GYN was a close second. I recommend Kaplan notes for you first time test takers and if you have time do the Q bank questions, but DEFINITELY do the USMLE WORLD Qs no matter what.
