hey,

i am not sure if this the best place for this topic, but surely anyone who has experienced the exam would know )

i was talking to a friend of mine who recently took the Step 1 and she was telling me that i should skip the "tutorial" (since i already know the general format from qbank, nmbe cd, etc.) so i can add 15 min. to my break time. is this even possible--she said that once u start the "tutorial" then u automatically use up the 15 min of it even if u only use it for 3-5 min (this is what she did and it didn't work for her)... (

anyway, any advice on this matter would be great... D

yup u can surely add 15 min of tutorial to ur break cuz its same as u said for cd or nbme, even if u start it and finish it in 4-5 min browsing,u still have 10 min extra breaktime
best of luck

Is it the same tutorial as the one on the usmle CD? If it is, who does actually look at it at the beginning of the exam? we'd all find a better use of those 15 mins. Have you guys skipped it? (..the heroes that already took this monster..)

I think the problem is mechanically , or computerwise: How do you skip it?
Especially once you started! :?:

i understand there's a "skip tutorial" button there at the beginning. just click it and u skip. my q is if we really lose some important info by doing that.

i dont think so ...
the tutorial is same as on usmle cd or kaplan q bank....
if you know the basic outlay of the screen, which button means what.....there is no harm in skipping the tutoril.....

otherwise you can go thru it quickly and not waste a lot of time too .......

You can not skip tutorial in real exam. If you press exit, that will log you off the exam. The only thing to do is to go over very fast. Actually the staff at prometrics told me I can not skip tutorial. Probably someone tried to and got logged off the exam. I don't know about the 15 minutes issue, theoretically should be added to break time. But I finished ahead of time, so didn't pay attention to this.
