hi i m currently graduate from india 1 yr back. i gave my step 1 in internship but i failed with 57/135 then i gave it 1 month back,i again failed with 66/161 at this last time, i worked very hard. i already attneded the kaplan classes, did lots of questions from q bank,q book. i also read goljan books and audio, but then after i failed because i think my exam was very hard right now i m very confused and finally decided to give it again instead of giving step 2 first. i married to a us citizen and permanent resident right now and in ny state. i want to know that is it possible for me to getting residency if i clear my all steps without any attempt, though i know its hard. pls reply me soon thanks.

sorry didnt get your question! if you are asking whether or not you can get into a residency even after all these failed attempts , the answer is yes you can. it will be difficult though. try to get an externship somewhere and work hard to get a couple of good LORs. there are numerous posts on this forum describing preparation methods. you can go through those. mgiht help. try to do your text well. atleast 5-6 times. be so thorough that you can answer any question a person may ask from you from the text you follow. i'd recommend kaplan. its the absolute gold standard. if you feel you dont want to waste any more time doing this exam thing you can go to other fields. its not the end of the road ever. just do what you want. nothing is going to be easy but with determination and a bit of luck on your side you should be able to do it. best of luck

hi , i can understand ur condition and state in which u r going through .coz one of my closest friend has undergone through exact same situation.kaplan might be a gold standard book i dont doubt it but in irder to understand kaplan u must have a strong background knowledge.so i recommend u too make ur concepts clear dont remain in any kind of ambiguity.try to read illustrative books.once u read a good book onany certain subject then studying kaplan would be easy coz kaplan is just a review book. so i will recommend u that for ur first revision go through text books and clear all ur concepts try to go thru some illustrative pictures and then for second revision go for kaplan and try to practice a lot of questions and then go f or a third revision which should be of 15c days. this is wat people say coz i have no experience for usmle exam i preparing for it .and since u given the exam twice u can let me know wat type of questions come and wat kind of format .so stay in touch. and good luck
