What are the causes of pseudohyperkalamia????

1.sampling technique
hemolysis and release of intracellular K from RBCs in the sample.
fist clenching during phlebotomy,tight tourniquet, delay in centrifugation
2. thromobocytosis (platelet count > 106/µL) due to release of K from platelets during clotting

Causes of pseudohyperkalemia:

1-Blood Sample clotted
2-Hemolysis via small needle (traumatic Venipuncture)
3-Delayed analysis
4-Excessive tourniquet
5-Severe Thrombocytosis
6-Severe Leukocytosis
