from what my friend tells me there is no such thing as a PGY3 position in FP.(please inform me if i am wrong?) the only positions available would be military it seems. that would mean a minimum of 8 years obligation! just when you had one year to go! isnt there anythingelse possible?

He would need to find a program that would let him finish his residency - no matter what year he is in. It's not going to be easy - most program directors will ask about why he didn't finish his training at that institution. And most PD's will want a letter from the program he was at.....
