Mgt of PE depends upo presentation of the pt. There r 3typs of clinical presentation.1]pt with hypotension -give thrmbolytics 2]pt with abnormal ventricular wall movement-decide between thrmbolyics or heprin 3]pt with vitals normal-warfarin and heparin. Investigation-VQ scan and D_dimer test Here i think ans is 3[becas we r suspecting Pe not dignosed yet an so before giving any therpy be sure]

I am thinking do blood gases first(2) and then if suspect PE(low O2) then go for v/q scan to confirm. Also Xaray chest (in option2) wud exclude other D/Ds like pneumothorax, pneumonia etc.What do u guys think ..... :?:

Here we have to confirm a suspected disease.I dont think we have to rule out other disease if some confirmatory test is available. What harrison says- D-dimer !-if no result V/Q ! Usg[r/o DVT] ! Angiography(the best one}
