22y primi in labor with regular contractions.prenatal course unremarkable.history of MVP WITH MR.she takes no medication and has no drug allergies.she is 4cm dilated and fetus vertex what is next step in management?plz explain why?

1.iv antibiotic thro labor
2.iv antibiotic after cords clamped
3iv antibiotic 30 min prior to delivery
4. iv antibiotic 6hr after delivery
5.no antibiotic necesarry

no antibiotics necessary
MVP with MR is moderate risk condition and vaginal delivery is low risk procedures...
Antibiotic prophylaxis is optional with high risk condition in Vaginal delivery..

in cmdt pg754(obgysection)in heart ds its mentioned that mvp with MR and idiopathic hcm should recieve prophylaxis durin labor n delivery or termination of pregnancy

yeah but in ID chapter it says antibiotic prophylaxis in L&D is optional fr high risk conditions
and MVP+MR is moderate risk condition

where is this ques frm? and wats the ans given?

Don't you love it when differetn sources say different things?...

Bluprints Key Points " On labor and delivery , patients are commonly given prophylactic antibiotics..." OB-GYN, page 108.

I can't wait to get to this q in the Kaplan QBank and read the explanations.
