Hi everyone
i had been a silent observer of this great forum and this forum finally gave me the boost up i needed !!
finally i decided to write my diary in that way i ll be in the same boat as u guys .............i am going to take the test at the end of this year ...i know its long time but i surf this forum everyday so i decided to write a diary of my own!
i am aiming for 99 .......... no wrong in aiming high ....i will do my best and whatever will be the score i will accept it!
ok getting on the track
materials i am using
kaplan ......for references other books........... that i couldnt understand in kaplan
first aid
goljan
as many mcqs as i can ....i aim in doing all the mcqs ....that my energy allow
anyways
i have a habit of repeating my stuff at one day ,one week,one month...and i mark the dates on my calendar
goals
start pathology ,general first
listen goljan audio one hour everyday
solve 50 qs at the end of the day
as for today it was a one month timed schedule for renal physio so i ll do that and have added all material in fa so will revise fa and mem all the renal formulae and will do qs .........
wish me luck guys ...thanx for listening .......will need yr help guys
i want to have a direction ...i want to put up my new schedule with yr advice

as for the renal physio ,i had to open everything up in kaplan and had to open up cvs for nephron circuits ...man that took a lot of time !
i couldnt listen to goljan yest ....all my fault ,i ll have to be serious in preparing my exam ........i dont know y but yest i felt as if i m burning out !!
anyways
as for the qs i am only scoring 60%what a shame for me .....have to go back and study more!!
todays goal:do the remaining renal physio...this is always my prob i cant finish at my desired pace,anyways......
start patho gen from goljan
do 50 qs
listen to goljan today ,no matter what!!

for yr advice.....i did goljan in the morining,complete all my renal stuff
started gen principles of pathology
also did 50 qs
as for today .....i ll be doing gen principle revision,50 qs q bank
listen goljan audio.....couldnt do more coz had to go out as my husband need a break frm his work ....
will head off after that

hello everyone
i wasnt studying for the past 3 days!!i dnt know what i am up to .......things happen in my life at times which i cant avoid but i need to be consistent!!!
as for the lost time ,i will do today 150 qs,listen 3 hours goljan and will do pathology.....whichever topic i am doing i will do 4 times in my first sitting and then will do qs and make personal notes of the stuff tht i am forgetting in my fa
i will start looking up for the pic online
pray for me guys ...i am recharghed now

thats pretty decent from what I understand. I assume that ur doing Qs from Qbank right?
Are you using qbook at all? I think Qbook is great for after a first revision. Since its a little easier than qbank and not on cpu format, its better to use after a first read. I think Qbank should be used after the second read but thats just me.
For me, 60% was low. but you r only on your first read so this may not be a problem for you. Usually what I did, was I did a set of 50 Qs in qbank and if my score was at least mid 70s than I would move on to the next subject. If it wasn't at least 70s than I would do BSS Qs untill my score in qbank went up to 70s. This usually took me about 350-400Bss Qs before my score would go up but I woudl just sit there all day and do BSS Qs, 300-400 in one day for that particular subject untill my score in qbank went up. You might want to do this later towards the end of ur prep because you don't want to do too many Qs early on because you wont' remember the Qs later....you'll forget the concept. hope this helps....
if this only ur 1st read and ur planning to do 4 reads than don't worry about the 60. If your only going to do 2 revisions than I say re-read the subject and do more questions untill your score goes up. I found my last revision was not a good one and it was more to try to keep things inmy brain so I didn't forget concepts I already learned previously.

u are aninspiration for me as always...thanx alot for this great advice !!i think so i was lacking this strategy ....but will i ever be able to retain qs till the end of this year???dont know what to do......
as for today i will do:
goljan audio...50 minn
100 qs ....50 frm previous subject that is physio and 50 from rapid review goljan
pathology ......i will do inflammation today
berk or anyone:right now i am doing patho from goljan ...the big one ,will i be able to revise it fom this bog a book....i have seen goljan hy but they are points and there is no short version of goljan notes ,fa doesnt have general patho ......what shud i do to summarize the goljan big notes ...what did u guys do kiran ,krushna,lmbebo

the 500pg text book by stars? how much time are you going to spend studying for step1. I think if you told me 1 year than go ahead and use the textbook, but if ur only studying for 2-3 months, stop reading the text now and use something like rapid review or brs path, or kaplan path. there's way too much in goljan's text to learn everything. I know, I have the text book too and while it is complete, its really too much for this exam. you'll be better off reading brs path 7-8 times than goljans 500pg 3 times. plus, when you are getting close to the exam, you won't have time to read it over at the end of your reveiw and this is key because you will forget a lot. just imagine, your doing inflammation now, when do you plan to do inflammation again? 2 months from now? I studied for 3 months solid, and only had time to read rapid review 4.5 times. I wish I had read it more too... only use goljan text is you have about a year to study for the exam!

phsyio. I read the kaplan notes twice and on the second read, I took notes of the points I was most likely to forget or that I didn't know cold into a notebook. This turned out to be about 70 pages of notes. I read this over for a 3rd revision a few days before my exam. Each revision was done separately--> I moved on to a different subject after I finished each one and did questions subject wise after I finished each subject.

went to bn yest to check out stuff......i dnt know whats happening to me ,i dnt feel like eating anything nor do i feel like sleeping!!hey guys whats happening to me?????anyways .....the day will begin by
webprep which usually motivates me alot to study
first i will revise yest stuff over a leisurely pace
will do remaining inflammation and repair(4x) ,along with thewebpath qs and this time i wont get up until this task is over!!!
listen goljan audio...now it really is making sense when i m actually reading patho sidewise!
will do 50 qs bss as advised by berk
if i have time left will see some web slides
yest i did webpath and i really like it ,got 65%.....still a looooooooooongggg way...doing qs is real fun and i dnt wanna get up frm qs but as for now i ll have to complete my revisions

from what I have read in ur posts u r far more diligent in ur studies and a better disciplinarian to ur self. I like that.
As for not eating or not sleeping properly. May be u r feeling tensed up? Try to relax. Take a warm shower and a warm glass of milk before going to bed.
Oh well being a doctor u know all these home remedies better than me. Frankly I on the other hand am afraid that I have started eating too much in the past few weeks, and I might gain weight if I am not careful. Want to switch places with me? Hehehe

yest i did a stupid thing and learned a lesson as well,what i did was tht after listening to webprep ,i did qs and it took me so long that then it was evening and so i couldnt make up for studying .......

as for today i am stuck with doing the prevvious work of cell injury and then strt off with inflammation and repair ....4x cozz i dont know when am i gonna get the time to revise gen patho .....i will study this sunday coz i made a mistake and wasted one whole day

hello everyone .....
what i did in my previous days was :had one month revision schdule for cvs physio did that frm kaplan and fa and did 50 qs.....i took out the high yiled and stuff which i dint rem and revised that .
as for today return to patho:nothing to revise of previous day coz i did physio yest
starting my day with webprep
i couldnt do qs frm robbins and webpath and couldnt take out high yield for inflammation and reapir ,so will do that today .......and i can never leave any topic b4 doing it 4 times coz i dont when am i gonna get time to review it again.........i know it takes time but it gives me satisfaction which boosts up my morale to study more

you sound like u got a good plan. you definately have enough time to do it. dont worry, everyone will ultimately get what they wish for....its just a matter of putting the work in. my only advice is to be aware of your mental state and dont overexert yourself and dont make this test bigger than it is. take the time to appreciate life and the other things it has to offer... u definately have the time for it. best of luck to you....
