Hye,
Could anyone from this group be having a rough idea what percentile they need for the various clinical specialities.

I have gone through the first aid for step 2 but they have only mentioned that while ENT is the top ranked branch , Medicine continues to be at a low.

What Step 2 percentile would suffice for a residency position in psychiatry?
:?:
I had rescheduled my slot and am really going to slog hard this time. Still it will be a big help if someone could enlighten me with the average MLE score that will help bag a psychiatry residency?

Thanks for going thru this.

A Psych residency has traditionally NOT been a competitive residency. What scores you need, would depend on what hospital you want, but I'm assuming passing is enough to get you into a hospital, not necessarily the best hospital.

look, what FA says is applicable to only US grads. For IMGs, higher scores are always better. In not competitive specialties, in not competitive hospitals, you can probably get something with a barely pass (although be warned, there are many people go get in the upper 70s, low 80s who don't match anywhere). For anything other than medicine, pedi, FP, or psych, you better shoot for mid-90s, have US CE, US LoR, etc. Even for IM or Pedi, for the top programs, you will basically need 95+. It is getting more and more competitive each year for IMGs to get ANY spot. Please try to get as high a score as you can.

when you mean, dont match anywhere even if they get upper 70s and lower 80s, does that include us citizens?

no, the people who don't need visas with low scores to get something, although they may have to scramble. But this is just from people I know. Try and get as high a score as you can.

Look, scores don't make a great doctor, but you do get screened by scores by PDs.
