Hi, I am an IMG living in the States for a few months and I would like to know if you can practice medicine without doing a residency again, I already have my specialty ( been in a residency in my country for 4 years ) and I am not sure if I want to get in a residency again..I don t like the research field , I enjoy the clinical practice... Can I take the steps and then go in a solo practice??
Can anyone help me?? Thanks!! This website is just great! smiling face

Without ECFMG certification, residency and licensure in the USA, you will not be able to practice medicine.

Sorry

Thanks bbb for your quick answer ! You must be a good at solving emergencies!!! smiling face
So basically what you are saying is that everybody needs to do a residency, even though you already have a specialty, right? And what about a fellowship? As you can see, I'm a little lost..
Thank you again!

15 years as a residency program coordinator (or liaison as one of my former resident would say) prepares me for many, many emergencies! Thanks!

If you get your certification half way through the year and need to wait ~6 months for a residency - is there any locum jobs... or some work at a hospital until a residency comes through??

thanks
