They are used for the prevention of seizure during period of heaving drinking or detoxification..... 8)

they are also used for DT and other withdrawals in addition to seziures. they can transform Alcoholism into BZD addiction. good for Detoxification but the real ADDICTION is over when BZD addiction is also over !!
They do NOT produce anabuse Sx (unlike Disulfiram) or they worsen the pt. suffering from withdrawal already.
