doc4life-this is another big can of worms, but I love it. For starters Enterobacteriaceae- Proteus mirablis, Proteus vulgarus, Klebsiella pneumonia, Morganella Morganelli, Yersinia entercolitica, Some Providencia, Some Enterobacter Gram + bacilli--Clostridia Sordelli no cell wall -Ureaplasma Urealyticum gram-,microaerophilic,curved rod-H.Pylori Gram - , anaerobic baccili-Bacteroides Ureallyticus Gram - ,facultative anaerobic bacilli (non Enterobacteriaceae)-strains of Vibrio parahemolyticus in Japan they all hydrolyze urea to ammonia

Some Klebsiella are WEAKLY urea positive, so I really wouldn't put Kleb in this group. Morganella are positive, but Providencia are negative. Check out this link: http://service.merck.de/microbiology/tedisdata/pr...

It may, but this reaction is not used in its identification in a clinical laboratory. We set up a Novobiocin disc and incubate overnight. If the zone size is less than a certain size (can't remember offhand what the cutoff is), the coagulase negative Staphylococcus is identified as Staph. sapro. If it's larger than the cutoff zone size, the ID remains as CNS (with no further speciation). The only time we do this is on positive urine cultures from women of childbearing age.
