57 y/o male with a 10 year Hx of HTN visits his physician for a routine physical exam. Lab results show a 3-4x increase in renin. The patient is given a Rx for Losartan. Which of of following would be expected to increase following administration of Losartan? A. Ability of the kidneys to excrete sodium B. Aldosterone C. Arterial Pressure D. ANP E. TPR My answer was B, because I figued that since Losartan was an ATII Receptor blocker, free ATII levels might increase simulating Aldosterone levels. Their answer was A. Are both correct?

of course asnwer has to be a.... aldosterone synthesis is triggered by Angiotensin II via it's receptor.....which if blocked.....then how wud u expect a rise in aldosterone levels.......besides angiotensin II levels and renin mey get elevated ..
