I think Diverticulitis mostly involve Sigmoid colon............ so pain shud be in left lower quadrant............ while appendicitis is uncommon in old age....... but may occur. I think this is appendicitis........... 8)

does the appendix by 65 pretty much undergo fibrosis so there is less chance of inflammation....but i still can't explain the RLQ pain

In this scenario, i think we can have both possible diagnosis appendicitis & diverliculitis So Kaplan answer is diverticulitis, as i think because they base on the statictics that diverticulitis is more frequent. This statistics is surveyed in US, so it is not necessary the truth in many other country, when i am a student in my country, in front of this scenario :arrow: The diagnosis is acute appendicitis
