a 65 yr old man complaints of sever pain in the periumbilical area which then localises to right lower quadrant.what is the diagnosis?

I think Diverticulitis mostly involve Sigmoid colon............
so pain shud be in left lower quadrant............
while appendicitis is uncommon in old age....... but may occur.
I think this is appendicitis........... 8)

In this scenario, i think we can have both possible diagnosis appendicitis & diverliculitis

So Kaplan answer is diverticulitis, as i think because they base on the statictics that diverticulitis is more frequent.

This statistics is surveyed in US, so it is not necessary the truth in many other country, when i am a student in my country, in front of this scenario  The diagnosis is acute appendicitis
