According to the newest HIPAA regulations, you must be an employee of an institution to view medical records, hear cases, or in the hospital in a official capacity, such as a medical student.

As a graduate of a medical school, you would be an unlicensed physician, unless the hospital has an official observership program.

Not saying that it's right or wrong - just what is.

You call them and ask if they have an observership program.

Competitive scores are going to change from hospital to hospital - from one area of the country to another - and from specialty to specialty, so I can't generically say that one score will get you what you want.

A lot of it is YOU - how do you interview, how do you present yourself?

We matched with someone that we never would have thought about ranking just because she was wonderful during the interview.

Our catch phrase this year was "Would I want to have dinner with this applicant?" meaning how well are they going to fit with us?

Good luck
