Hi guys! I'm writing this post because I need yours advice. Everyone knows that paying for usmles, eras, nrmp, plane tickets to US, visa can get pretty expensive and it’s good to have a some kind of job to pay for all of that. I am not in the UK right now but I am a national of Eastern European country and since my country got accession in to European Union last year it is much easier for us to get medical job in the UK (no PLAB, visas) The point is that junior competition for HO and SHO is so extreme (like 400 applications for one spot) that I guess I can forget about it. I mean you can still try but it takes forever. Anyway I have recently found a position called RMO (Resident Medical Officer), it’s reasonably easy to get it for FMG cause UK grades despise it (not a training post, does nothing to improve your CV).You are required to have 2 years of work experience and ACLS and APLS courses. Basically you work like 2 weeks non stop on duty in charge of 60 beds private hospital, and there is a consultant MD you can call to help you out when things get ruff. You live in the hospital, sleep there, eat there, like a free hotel. After 2 weeks on duty the next week you are off, you can do whatever you want, travel, and then again you go for 2 weeks to your hospital. The point is that after 6 months of such a prison your bank account is 60.000 $ plus. You got all the cash you need to cover for usmles expenses plus you even have time to study (basically you are alone except patients in those private hospitals). It sounds reasonable and I want to know where is the catch. Any input welcome.
