Hi all,
Today i checked oasis and got the message that i already have passed the exam. For all those who are very scared after the exam, i will write my post exam feelings later.
Right now i have to go, i will visit here after some time.

Hi all,
I am back to let you know how i did on cs exam. I read many messages here from members who are anxious about unsatisfactory SPs response.
It happened with me also. I got this kind of response from about 3 or 4 SPs may be more, i dont remember.
I made many blunders, i was not at all satisfied with what i did. I was the only img on that day. So this is not a matter of concern now for those who are anxious of being the only img on exam day.
One thing,.....if i can pass, any one can pass!
It is difficult to remember everything on the checklist for SPs on exam day. It just happens with practice. I remember that i did everything like a robot. I can not think for a second what to do, only your reflexes work at that time, and you have to make your reflexes for this exam.
Like..., i practiced many cases on my husband. I study in a daytime and practice those cases with him in evening. I did everything mentioned in uw. I practiced daily from the info on door till the last words as it is in uw.
My ending words were same for every SP "I am not sure at this point but i have to run some tests in order to rule out other possibilities etc etc"
In some encounters i saw that the sp was not looking satisfied, then i modify my last words until he seems satisfied, and i also asked at that time "is it ok with you" and was there until i got a smile from her or him which showed that he or she is now happy with me. But this happened for some encounters, in others i didnt have time to say any ending sentences, or any councelling. I councelled with SPs who need councelling, but got no time in other encounters.
I answered all questions asked by SPs, you can learn those during your preparation.
I typed Pt notes. I made many typing mistake due to rapid typing but had no time to correct those. I missed many things, some times i didnt do the exam which is imp for the particular encounter. I was not sure about the dx in many encounters. But wrote all possible dx in d/d.
I did resp and cvs exam on all sps.
Thats all for now.
I have passed this exam because of the help of many members, specially 2bmd. I asked her sooooooooooooooo many questions and she replied all. I learned from members of this forum equally as i learned from uw. Both are imp.

Thanks a lot!
Docsuki, ..one month is a good amount of time to prepare. If you are anxious (like i was) then my advice is to practice practice and practice ( this is all you need) practice till you make your reflexes. It will help you.

Snowy,...I got my result in just 5 weeks (better than the previous eg). Another member on this forum got result in 5 weeks (15 days ago) so it means they are releasing results quickly now.

wish u could see how happy im for u..im gonna get drunk tonite coz my friend Sar passed usmle exams in flying colors......all ur hard work is paid off.
couple of imp. things for people who r gonna take CS yet....practice with time frame pt. encounter as well as pt. note....greet SP by his/her last name...answer all their concerns right away...dont panic,,,tell ur probable dx in end n tell them u r gonna run some tests to find out......end the encounter by saying...... do u have any questions mr xyz.? thank you for ur cooperation mr xyz. have a nice day! n shake hands n leave with a smile. i wrote my pt. note with a bad hand writing which i have n even scribbled/ cancelled some n wrote again if i thought i was not writing correct...have faith in urself n b confident..good luck to all.

MANY MANY CONGRATULATIONS!! /
I have a couple of questions for for all those who have experienced this exam...
:arrow: If 15 min. are over and I m in the middle of examining the patient(e.g.in neuro case)What exactly I shud say to the patient?
or If I m in middle of councelling the patient,do we get few moments to complete it or we have to immediately leave the room.
:arrow: what tests are needed in case of knee ,hip ,shoulder trauma patients?If someone can suggest any website for its videos(besides UW),I'll really appreciate it.
:arrow: In migraine headache/chest pain cases If patient is taking OCP'S shud we tell her about its side effects related to her symptoms?
:arrow: While examining abdomen,can we auscultate the heart too,after telling to the patient that i need to listen to her heart and can I lift her gown a little more for that?
I really need answers for my queries ,my exam is after 2 wks.

I would recommend all future exam takers to read posts (questions and answers) of members on this forum, you will learn many things from here.

I am answering you according to what i did:
:arrow: If 15 min are over, no matter whether you are in the middle of exam or in the middle of councelling (proctor will come in to take you out) so you just tell SP quickly what you have to say to every SP that " I am going to run some tests, we will meet again after i get your results back. I will be in a better position at that time to talk about your problem". you can modify these sentences according to the time you get and the situation.
:arrow: For trauma to any joint you can order x-rays, or MRI for meniscal or ligament injury of knee. Read uw trauma cases. You can read kaplans CS book for cases and pt notes ( for diagnostic tests). I watched just uw videos( those are enuf). Practice joint exams.
:arrow: I am not sure about this question. I didnt do that.
:arrow: yes you can examine heart at that time, but try not to lift the gown more upwards, but after examining abdomen and, cover the abdomen again and then tell the SP i am now going to listen to your heart or to feel your heart, then do it from upwards. Slightly lower the gown or do it by going from the neck of the gown. for PMI do it from below slightly raise the gown. Dont expose a lot of area at one time.
you will learn these after practice. I learn these things after practice. Just keep one thing in mind do whatever needs least exposure. Examine in a way that requires least exposure. Every method would be fine unless you expose SP little. Keep telling him everything you are doing, ask whenever you are going to do anything. "Now i am going to do this, this etc. Is it ok with you etc etc." Learn these sentences.

You don't have to aplly for ECFMG Certificate . If you have met all the requirements ( Ecfmg has verified your Med school Diploma and Transcript ) you will get your certificate in mail in couple days .

hi sar
before getting that certificate, once u have sent medical school release form etc.u will get a letter from ecfmg saying that they sent ur medical school diploma copy to ur college to verify.In my college somebody has to go check witha cademic section only then they verify and send it back to ecfmg.i hope all this process is over for u.
