if you do well on step I, you should get something in IM in US. If you get your MRCP you will also have some status in the few programs here where they know what that is. I would say, you are there in UK. Plab II is not hard. Finish it and see if you can land a job. If you really want to come to the US, then maybe you should give your Plab II and focus on the step I back in your home country. You can always come back to the UK to work after passing step I.

PLAB - EASY TO PASS JOB - TAKES AGES TO GET ONE CHANGE OF JOBS TOO OFTEN Equal opportunities on paper (never in real life) fill 100's of applications But you crossed the borders you are in UK go for it. USMLE- long exam as you already know Prep will help u in MRCP as well. I came to UK so that i have a better chance for a US visa Uk is the second best place for IMG. My advice is IMG'S can do both at the same time.Go for it.If you get a residency sya goodbye UK ,hello americaaaaaaaa

I'm not sure but quite a few of my classmates gave PLAB(more than 10) and none of them had any problem in getting jobs. They are working is a vast area of medical fields such as Paeds.,EM,IM,OBG,Surgery,Orthopaedics etc.... I've heard the job situation is not the best in UK.....but its not any better in the US as ECFMG released stats. state 50% of IMG get into residency programmes. Equal opportunity......I would say its very much in UK and US too.....ofcourse occ. you do have discrimination. While I can't comment about UK but let me ask you this......then why do IMGs always ask for IMG friendly hospital list for US?.....its because they know they will be 'discriminated' in the non-IMG friendly places! Its true that in the UK there is always job hopping as that how the system works there......but in one way its good as you' don't become narrow minded doctors then! Everyone has given you good advice to you and I too reiterate that give MRCP.....it does carry some importance in the US. Lately Australia has opened it doors too.One of my friend went there and got into a training programme as well.Just wanted to inform you. All the best in deciding what you decide.
