Persist with your efforts.
Between talent and perseverance, bet on perseverence .......they told.
So persevere with your efforts. Your scores have NOTHING to do with your getting an observership.Scores are indeed helpful in getting a residency, but not in observership.
Once you get that, work hard, and importantly learn some Medicine.That , coupled with a couple of LORs you will end up with residency next year.
