hi guys, i will be going to states next may(2006) on a visitors visa,i got a vip ticket to watch a race(indy 500),ONE BIG COMPANY is sponsering mefor the ticket, but this is the first time i m going abroad,can anybody help me out by knowing what r the chances of me getting an h1 visa after going there,what should i do to get that,should i have to enroll in KAPLAN or any other thing which can support me for a visa ,for that should i have to do my tofel....i would be thankful if anybody can help me with this because ,me taking usmle depends on this ,if not i have to quit i think...... PLZ HELP ME OUT GUYS

Hello karum For an H1 B visa you need to pass Step 1, Step2 CK and Step 2 cs, PLUS Step 3. For a J1 you need just the ECFMG certificate (step 1, 2, and CS). For both you need that actually a program gives you a contract. That means, previous ERAS application, traveling and interviewing. For getting interviews it is convenient to have letters of recommendation from Americans who have worked with you. That means, you need clinical experience in the US. That is the hardest part. My university in Argentina used to have an exchange program with Harvard, but the evil tongues say that some scoundrels used the million-dollar grant that Harvard gave my university, for personal purposes instead of for the exchange students. Bad luck, being born in Argentina. The deal ended. But check if your university has any relationship with american hospitals or universities. They might arrange you an observership or externship.
