Which of the following surrogate maker of HIV infection has been shown to be most accurate and useful at predicting clinical outcomes

A. CD4 count
B. Determination of the ratio of bound to free CD4 receptors
C. CD4/CD8 ratio
D. Quantification of plasma HIV RNA level
E. Determination of the surface area of Kaposi sarcoma lesions

  #2

I must go with answer-a.
Because it starts to get morbid if the CD4 count goes below 200.

i ll go with A(cd4)-coz cd8 r not affected by HIV

  #5

I have no answer, but why it is not D, RNA level

Any one have explanation or reference ?

  #6

will go w/ A CD4
HIV binds to CD4 via glycoproteins.. CD4 ct. is used to monitor the disease

  #7

i agree with answer a but why not d
there is a similar question titled symptomatic aids by parminda.
can someone clarify?

  #8

If anything viral load could also be helpful

as far as i understood from mrs....and i think i saw some vignettes..so guys it slike this

predictor for the simptoms and for the evolution of the desease is RNA meaning viral load

cd4+ gives u the information for the actual level but it s not predictor...

read the example from mrs
