can smomebody explain me what a confounding bias is

  #2

Bias means deviation from the truth
Confounding bias has to do with factor being examined is related to other factors of less interest.
Comparing relation of exercise and heart disease in two different populations when one pop. is young and the other pop. is old. Are the differences in heart disease related to exercise or to age?
Hope this helps.

Confounding bias is you cant say which factor really produced the results.

EG: 2 groups taking drugs and one group is vegeterian and the other is non-vegeterian.Now you measure BP and find ut that the first group has low BP.Now the Q is ,Is that low BP due to the drug or the group being vegeterian(Food)?.This is the confounding Bias.
