Hi,
Can somebody please explain to me the Biochemical Reactions? Michaelis-Menten Equation and Lineweaver-Burk Equation... I donīt have a clue, I know the meaning of the letters and symbols, but I just canīt get it! :|

Please help me, or give a website where I can get answers... :lol:

Thanks! :P

For starters:
Ill take {Michaelis-Menton}
1)The equation describes how reaction velocity varies with substrate concentration(Remember entire books can be written only on enzymes)

2)Its strictly a graph analysis of an enzyme/substrate reaction.

3)Only INITIAL reaction velocity is used

4)High Km think low affinity and vice versa(I hope #4 here is clear)

5)When [S] is much less then Km the velocity is proportional to substrate conc. and is said to be first order with respect to substrate.
When[S] is much greater then Km, the velocity is constant and equal to Vmax. The rate of reactionis then independent of substrate conc. and said to be zero order with respect to substrate conc.

6)Lineweaver-Burke makes the above more mathematically palatable

Hope this helps a little
