.............Delta G v <--> w -4.0 w <--> x +0.4 x <--> y -3.4 y <--> z +5.7 From the values of Delta G above, which compound in the overall metabolic pathway v <--> w <--> x <--> y <--> z will accumulate in the largest amount at equilibrium? a) v b) w c) x d) y e) z

It's W or Y, but I'm not sure how to work ouut which. I'll go for Y, because delta G for Y<-->Z is very positive.

I have no idea about this, what does negative, positive delta G mean ? Any explanation ?

Delta G is the Gibbs free energy. It determines whether a particular reaction will proceed stontaneously or not under those conditions. If delta G is negative, it will. The value does not tell you how quickly a reaction will proceed (i.e. a reaction with a highly negative delta G will not necessarily proceed faster than one will a less negative value). That's all I can remember. Sorry!
