For Q1, I think it is D, on remembered NBME, 'cause it is not official document, so i am not sure smiling face


And Q2, i have no answer, so if anyone has idea, plz post it 8)

i think b for qustion 2..

mucus glands of bronchi undergoes hypertrohy ,however there is sighnificant goblet cell metaplaia occuring in the terminl bronchiole.... :|

HuMmm....

I am sure about ... Q2 ... and that is ... B) Obstruction is in the bronchi in asthma .. as there is HYPERSECRETION of mucus IN the bronchi .. !

But ... regarding question 1 .. I am not sure if it is Respiratory bronchiole or terminal .. infact .. aint terminal a part of the respitatory bronchiole ?

Ill add this:
conducting zone- bronchi, bronchiole, terminal bronchiole.

respiratory part or transition and respiratory zone-respiratory bronchiole. alveoli duct, alveoli sac.

hey guys i was listeniing to goljan lectures ....and he made it really clear!

the major site of obstruction in both chronic bronchitis and asthma ,also brnchiolitis is terminal bronchiole......

the differenec is only in their pathogensis:

C.Bronchitis: smoking causes goblet celll metaplasia
Asthma: episodic(LTC,D,E4)
bronchioitis:infection

in all of these there will be inflammtion and proximal airway changes, which may differ!
