Any clinical signs to differentiate lymphogranuloma from granuloma inguinale ?

  #2

LGV- 1) Caused by C. Trachomatis types L1-L3, 2)Swollen lymph nodes called bubos 3)lesions havean exudate 4)Can have rectal stricture/fistulas and drainage to rectal area. 5)+ complement fixation( I think the old test was the Frie test) 6)genital Elephantiasis7)Seen in Africal,Asia,S. America

G.I.-1)Caused by C. granulomatis 2)intracytoplasmic cyst stain with Wright stain(Donovan bodies)3)First painless then painful 4) more relapsing and indolent course. 5)This one may not be bacterium

Tetracycline or Erythromycin are examples of reasonable Rx
LGV should beRxed for 3 weeks whereas G.I. Rxed for perhaps 12 weeks

I often confuse thses 2, Hope this helps
