FORBIDS ME - "logic for the mnemonic : A patient with joint pain will forbid you to touch it !" Applies to almost all cases of any joint pain : F - Fracture O - Osteoporosis R - Rheumatoid Arthiritis, Rotator Cuff tear for Shoulder, Radial ligament damage for Elbow B - Bursitis I - Infection D - Dislocation S - Subluxation M - Myositis Ossificans E - Elderly Abuse The same mnemonic will also help you recollect the data-gathering questions to ask the SP - jst think of relevant questions as per D/D In the physical exam, always expose the other normal symmetrical joint and show that you are comparing. Look for bruises, range of motion, pulses distally and if sensations are intact ! - all this must come in the patient note
