53 y/o female w/ lump in the neck she noticed it 1 mon ago,no associated pain ,pressure hoarseness.she feels fine no other complains.she has no h/ o radiation exposure.examination reveals palpable thyroid nodule app 3cm what will be the most appropriate next step in diagnosis?

1st step is to do the ultrasound to see if it is cystic or soild
If it is cystic--->benign and --->disappears -->no need to do any thing
if it is solid <3m--->do FNA..If cytology is benign-->give thyroid hormoe to suppress the growth.
If growth is >3cm and solid--> do needle biopsy
If cytology is indeterminate or malignant--->surgical resection.
If cytoligy benign thyroid hormones are given.

hi hamidi, did u look at the apporach of thyroid nodule in IM forum it says that u should do THYROID fn test 1st?
I think i agree that we should do TSH 1 st .what do u say?
