A 33 year old woman with no past medical history comes to the clinic for an initial visit, she has not seen a physician in three years , offers no specific complains, has never smoked, rarely drinks alcohol and denies elicit drug use. She is a graduate student at near by university, a sexually active with only financee and uses the rthym method for contraception. Her father died of MI at age 72 and her mother is 69 year old, and healthy except for arthritis. She denies anyother significant family history. She is 163 cm tall, weights 46 kg, temperature 37.0C, BP 100/74 mmhg, PR 76/min,RR 16/min. She appears withdrawan , rest of exam is normal, except for the presence of three small ecchymosis on her lower extremities in various stages of healing, that she attributes to bumping into furniture in her apartment. At this time the least appropriate management is

a. checking fasting serum cholesterol
b. counseling her about prevention of STD
c. inquiring further about her relationship with her financee
d. instructing her about self breast examination and asking her to perform monthly
e. performing a pap smear
