I'm applying for J1 visa for residency, but my fiance is a US citizen currently working outside the US. Will it be possible to waiver for a greencard through marriage after obtaining the J1 visa, and avoid the two-year rule? Or is it better to look for H1B visa sponsering programs (which is quite difficult to find, from the impression that I got so far...Plus, I need to take Step3...)??

Try for H1 unless you dont have any choice.

Thank you for your reply. I think I'll take Step3 and see if I can find a program that will support H1B visas.
