Hi everyone, Has anyone who took the exam on January 19th heard back from NBME or Oasis? I checked NBME and my score has not been released yet. This has been torture! All this waiting and praying is driving me mad. I heard that people who take the exam on a Wednesday (like I did) get their results back exactly 3 weeks later because scores are released by the USMLE people every Wednesday. Why has it not been released yet? Shouldn't this apply to all applicants regardless of whether we are AMG or IMG's? We're all taking the same damn exam. I cannot do the OASIS trick because I am an AMG. Anyone know of a similar trick for NBME applicants? I feel like pulling my hair out. Anyone else in the same boat? Thanks, pinkangel

Hi I am a foreign grad who took the cursed test on Jan. 19 & I haven't heard. I got an email from someone on this forum who took it on the 18th & she has her results. Yes, this waiting is ridiculous. For Petet's sake the darn thing is a computer exam. I've seen the old pencil & paper manually scored exams get their results back sooner. The delay is uncalled for. Good luck

Hi Pinkangel, I am new to this forum but I am an AMG & also took the exam on the 20th Jan. Two days back I tried to apply for the step 1 again thru NBME eventhough the results were not posted yet but it said something like registration already in progress. I tried today again (results are not posted yet) but this time it continued to eligibility period and allowed me to register for the period between feb 15-april and so on. So I don't know if I failed or is this accurate? I am only praying this is not true. Please include me in your prayers that I should pass.

I went to Oasis this morning to find my scores updated. I did the trick only to be allowed to sign up for another exam. Looks like I failed it a second time. This is it for me - I'm thru. Good luck on your test score.

Hi, I also checked OASIS earlier and I think I passed. It says that I cannpt reapply because their records indicate that I have passed. I hope these results are accurate. gbono2 don't give up yet. There is a possibility that OASIS is wrong. Good luck everybody else.

As someone mentioned on another post, don't throw in the towel yet! They mentioned my diary - I encourage you to read it. I failed this exam 3 times and lost my residency in last year's Match because of it. Not only did I fail, I also suffered professional and public humiliation as well. It was painful but I didn't give up. Neither should you. At least you have a job that puts food on the table. I don't. And I refuse to throw away my hard earned MD degree. Can you honestly say to yourself that you'll settle? Give up so easily? I don't know what my results are but I do know 1 thing for sure. I remain hopeful and know that I can pass this damn exam. If it doesn't happen with this attempt, then it will with another one. I am not talking about another half hearted, blind shot in the dark kind of attempt. Rather, a thoughtful and logical way out of this quicksand that is keeping me from residency and a career that I worked so hard for. If that means that I need to focus on another aspect of my life for a while -whether it is in the form of a temporary research job or the like, then so be it. But I will not give up so easily. I will study and find another way to approach this exam until I find the secret to conquering it for good. Please don't give up. Because I won't. All the best, pinkangel

Dear Pinkangel Thank you for your encouraging words. Just when you think you've got it bad - guess what. Here comes someone else along to break uyp your pity party. I'm sorry for your bad luck. I don't have a job. I took the last year off to take step 1 both times. Doing this required me to close my office. I have kept my chiropractic license renewed so I'll open up another office. My wife & I have talked about it. We have agreed that I should try 1 more time in 2005. So, I'll need to get my hands on a current Kaplan. I already have all the Goljan stuff, Kapln 2004, 2003 qbanks and 2002 Kaplan books. I think the Kaplan books are outdated in the genetics stuff which kicks my tail. If I pass step 1 midyear then its off to step 2 & TOEFL. By starting another office next year, I can sell then thing after passing these boards and match. So anyway this is the tentative plan although I really am not in the mood to get back into studying right now. Thanks for taking the time to write this note to me - I do appreciate it. Good luck to you in everything you try to do!!!!!! Thanks-George

1 other thing pink angel. I took the Falcon Review in Dallas, TX. Don't consider their review. It's a ripoff of medical students and graduates with crappy notes and lousy instructors. I just thought I'd tell you this to not do from my experience if you're considering a review. If you do a review - do Kaplan. Sorry to post again

Hi all, I took the test on Jan 19th and checked Oasis yesterday and it didnt allow me to reapply stating I have passed..I am scared to say i passed for sure .Now just waiting for the official results to come in the mail before I can jump up and down if I did pass for sure.If I passed it I will be overjoyed and relieved of course and if not well gona hit the books again for another try, gbono dont give up, try one more time and this time go for kaplan live extended prep even if u have to take a loan to pay for it,in the long run u will recover the cost and it will be worth while once u r an MD if not there will always be the 'what if' question hovering over u. pinkangle, hang in there i am sure Oasis will be updated soon, will pray for your success.Good luck and take care.

Vas I am certainly glad you passed. Thanks for the words of encouragement. Good luck to you with step 2. I've been told it gets easier the higher you go with the steps. Right now for me the whole thing is still up in the air. We will see where I am lead. George

To: Pinkangel: I just read one of your replies where you encouraged someone to hold on and not give up. I like you have failed several times. I would please like you to tell me what your next step - not step as in 1,2,3, but your next move will be. Thanks, papa

Hi pinkangel, As you remember I took the exam on the 20th jan (a day after you) received my score on the 19th (yesterday). I am happy to tell you that I passed eventhough the NBME allowed me to reapply for step 1. Have you received your scores yet? I hope everything turns out fine on your side. Sarina

Hi friends, The waiting is finally over for me. I received my score report in the mail and ...... I passed! 210/85. I know it's not a stellar score according to most people's standards on this forum, but I know it is more than I ever hoped for. pvd: hang in there, I know that waiting for the results is enough to drive anyone insane! It's always good to have Plan B, even if it's just to ease your anxieties. Keep in touch and let us know how you fared. No matter what happens, we're behind you 100%. pinkangel

Congratulations pinkangel! I had read one of your posts where you said that after your score got updated on NBME you were still able to log in and register for the same step again and you were worrying if you had passed or not. But this is great that you have passed!!! I am am an IMG and took the step one. I am really worried because my score has been updated and after that I was able to register for step 1 again. I am concerned that I may have not passed. But i heard your story and felt a ray of hope that I may have passed. Please pray for me. Do you know if oasis has been wrong in the past. Did anyone in this forum have the same experience. or does this mean I have failed because oasis is letting me register again for the step i took? I am feeling very depressed and sad. Hope god helps me.

Dear Pink Angel I'm soooo glad for you that you passed. I'm still going to open my chiropractic office, but my wife & I have decided to study this year & retake it for a third time. After all, the third time is supposed to be the charm. I thinnk part of the change in our minds comes from your story. I guess that even an old timer can get thru the thing. Right now, I'm trying to find the PASS program materials. George

I'm actually away from home, but could'nt help plugging in my laptop and checking in .... Pinkangel: WOW! Good for you!. I wish you all the best for a fantastic future. I am SO glad for you. Just goes to show that hard work and perseverance does pay off in the end!!! Congrats again!! George: you're probably thinking I'm crazy for congratulating you but - you know what - hats off to your gumption and attitude. I sincerely wish you all the best, and please keep in touch with all of us here in the forum. I also noticed that you've asked about the PASS reviews - don't know about them but I heard(read) something about some org in Kansas that specialises in fast hard reviews. Anybody elso know about this?[/b]

dear sisdoc i took the Step I on Jan. 18 and still waiting for the results. i did the OASIS trick last week and it let me re-register for the exam. therefore, i fear that i have failed. it was quite a depressing and lonely feeling. i'm just waiting for the score report. however, i'm trying to stay positive and looking into taking a review program. stay hopeful and good luck with your results. --pvd--

VAS Those are my sentiments exactly. I couldn't have said it any better. I would be proud to have your score. Just remember it's passing & your ticket to pass go. You [passers have my permission to flush the step 1 information. Got to go get my grandson he's 3 & I'm watching him this afternoon. To all those who have passed - give 'em heck. I'll catch up with you folks. George

Hey there Cordmd, Vas, Pinkangel What are you guys going to do with your step 1 study materials? Could they go to a worthy cause? Contact me at gbono2@yahoo.com with any comments or questions. I will not be offended by any thing you ask. I think I need help from a different approach. George
