what exactly occurs if preg. pt continues on oral contraceptives?
steroids are not dangerous to the fetus. However, they can complicate the pregnancy.
If the mother takes steroids, she can develop HTN / DM during pregnancy
HTN--->preeclampsia / eclampsia (the risk cannot be neglected)
DM--->fetal problems
Steroids also cause edema---->worsening of the already existing edema
pregnant woman on OCP? Hm, she must check if she is still pregnant (if the fetus has not died in the meantime); For me, it seems impossible to carry a pregnancy while you take OCPs.
