Can anyone tell me the difference between a T-test and a one-way Anova..don't they both involve 1 nominal variable and 1 interval variable? And..what test would we use to compare whether a clinical benefit of a drug exists or not?

nominal-different groups-comparing meds, gender, etc.
Ordinal--rank order--class rank in med school
Interval-- exact differences, using means and deviations, Using Galilean #s

*t test-Uses "ONLY" 2 groups -1 interval and 1 nominal variable
eg. Women who go to charm school have a greater quantity of estrogen
women in charm school is the nominal and estrogen is interval since it has to be quantified.

One way ANOVA- uses 2 or more groups
eg. USMLE test scores at 3 different schools
3 schools- nominal/ test scores interval.
I think the best thing is to play with it.
Hope this helps.
