A mentally retarded pt. has abnormally high glutathione urine levels and undetectable gamma glytamyltranspeptidase activity in cultured skin fibroblasts. This enzyme is important in:

a)AA transport
b)Cholesterol transport
c)Glucose transport
d)FA transport
e)Nucleotide transport


plz explain, which disease does this pt get ?

1) It lacks speciificity
2)*In liver disease it correlates with Alk. phos. and is the most sensitive indicator of biliary tract disease.
3)Its associated with many other tissues beside hepatobiliary.
4)You could think of obstructive liver disease
5)Biochemically it can also transport glutayml groups fom glutathione to other peptides.
