hello everyone. bit late posting my exam experience. took the step 2 CK in july 2004. got a 247/99. cant believe and very happy bout it. the exam i felt was much easier compared to step 1 but the exam is much more tiring and exhausting. used kaplan material from there lecture notes and there Kaplan Q-bank. but the thing that helped me the most was USMLE World q-bank. very hard but good questions and very good explanations. they say if u can get around 50-60% of those questions right u can score above an 85% on the real exam. i took like 3 1/2 months. used the kaplan live lectures with their q-bank and the usmle world q-bank. didnt get a chance to have a study group like i had for step 1. did the usmle cd 1 week before the exam. but u gotta be consistent when studying. think thats the key. step2- 247/99 diagnostic test-72% kaplan simulation-73% Kaplan q-bank - 72% USMLE world - 68% I studied like 6 hours a day on the weekdays. and the weekends would do only the kaplan and USMLE world q-banks and occasionally the q-book. but i went for movies, watched and played basketball. and really enjoyed studying for the exam and definitely took it easier than step 1. but lot of step 2 is from step 1. like 40-50% which gelps a lot. i highly sugest those starting to decide to take the exam to finish off step 1 first and then step 2 wil be so much easier. however i dont think the same wil work if u take step 2 Ck first and then take step 1. ok thats all i can remember for now. my personal opinion is your step 1 and 2 CK scores are really important with regards to the match and the number of interviews u get. the higher the scores the more interviews. also for those going into the match should submit there applications at least by the end of september. cause interview positions get filled very fast and u might end up with only a few interviews if u apply later than october. so the earlier the better. i fortunattely applied in septmber itself even without my step 2 CS results. got like 27 interviews in the NY, NJ and connecticut area. AND I HAVE NO U.S. EXPERIENCE. so good luck to everyone!
