When the urinalysis is done on a specimen that has E. faecalis, the dipstick doesn't show a positive nitrate like it does with gram negative rods. Therefore, you cannot assume that a urine with a negative nitrate test is negative for pathogenic bacteria. All the rest of the organisms listed are gram negative rods. I'm not sure if Pseudo. aeruginosa always produces a positive nitrate on a dipstick (it's been a long time since I've done urinalysis - next time I get a urine with Pseudo I'll check the urinalysis to see) but a 35 year old woman would more likely have E. faecalis in her urine than Ps. aeruginosa. This is just an impression from reading out thousands of urine cultures over the years - I don't have any statistics to back me up on this :| .
