Hii everyone...congrats to everyone who cleared...and my deep hearted sympathies for all those who failed. I totally lost hope when i got my result.....but I dont know how God gave me some courage...but still not completely back to normal......the thoughts keep on coming..I had given a few interviews too and was waiting for the Match....But I suppose now its of no use.....I would like some advice and suggestions from you people....IS there any chance for people who failed CS for getting a residency this yr...????? I am talking about those who havent got a prematch......Somebody told me about post match....but post match as wat i have heard is a one or two day game....and that too in the month of March.....which would be impossible for us to retake the exam and get the results by then... ?
I havent lost hope ..there is always a next time....if not this yr god willing next yr may be i will have more better options after getting certified....and this is for all of those who failed....whatever god does its always for good...and there is always a reason.....But still if anyone has any suggestions about matching this yr plz. do share....cuz I dont see ANY chance of match this yr...? And if anyone who knows more details about POSTMATCH....plz...do let us know....Thanks in advance..

Hi Sameer,
I'm sorry about the test result, and hopefully you can turn it around soon when you retake the exam. However, all is not lost! True, you won't be able to participate in this year's Match, but you can participate in scramble (as far as I know). Just let those programs that you call during scramble what your status is and everything, and let them know about how good the rest of your application is. If scramble doesn't seem to work those 2 days in March, then maybe you should look into applying to programs that do not participate in the match at all. Besides, I will bet that even after scramble is over there will still be unfilled spots. You'll just have to call as many places as you can humanly handle, and see what happens. After all, residency does not start until July for most programs, which means there is quite a bit of time to make all the phone calls you want.
Of course, if you don't want to go to all this trouble, then you will have tons of time until match of next year. In this case, you should do some externships/observerships so that you get clinical experience and LORs. In the meantime, retake the CS exam no matter what you choose to do, and if you decide to wait until next year's match, go ahead and take step 3 while you are at it.
