hi mana, i don't think there's UW for Step 1. Did you pass step 2 first before step 1? I'm sure you can do it too! Good luck..

I also passed Step 2 and have had a tough time with Step 1. To tell the truth, it was easier for me to study for and pass Step 2. Maybe it is the clinical aspect of it. I am studying for 1 again and will take it in the middle of March. I think you should stick to Step 1 Q's only (that's what I am doing) because the emphasis is different; less clinical. Who knows, just do tons and tons of questions and don't let them get you nervous. Good luck.

Dear Mana, I also took and passed Step 2 before I recently took Step 1 again. I agree with Rofah2003's advice in that Step 1's focus is different from Step 2. It is less clinically oriented with more emphasis on integration of knowledge learned from basic sciences. My advice is to study Kaplan lecture notes and First Aid well before taking the exam. 99% of the questions on Step 1 can be answered from the knoweldge gained in these 2 sources. Know the basic concepts and learn how to integrate all the subjects together - listen to Goljan's lectures whenever you get the chance, he helped me to approach Step 1 in the way a question writer would think. Know the mechanisms of each subject well. It is not enough to just learn the names of things. That is the secret weapon that the USMLE 1 uses to stump examinees. Do questions on Qbank and Qbook on a regular basis. This is another way to practice consolidating your knowledge as well as learning which areas need more work. Before you take the real thing, take NBME 1 and 2 to see where you stand. Hope this helps. All the best, pinkangel
